One dead, SPO among four injured in Navyug tunnel accident

Srinagar, April 1: At least one person was killed and four others including a Special Police officer (SPO) injured in an accident near Navyug Tunnel NG-44 in Qazigund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Officials said that a MG Hector vehicle bearing registration number JK01AL 0707 lost control due to overspeeding and skidded off the road resulting in an accident near Navyug Tunnel today evening.

In this accident one person was killed while as four others were injured. One among the injured was an SPO who was injured after the vehicle hit him near his post. All the injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Zubair Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Hameed Wani resident of Heer pora Shopian. The injured were identified as Irshad Ahmad mir son of Abdul Rehman mir, Mushtaq Ahmad Dalal son of Gh mohd Dalal resident of Shopian, Umar Bashir Najar son of Bashir Ahmad Najar resident of Shopian and SPO Showkat Ahmad.

Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the accident.(GNS)
