Jammu, Aug 31: A student was killed while twelve others were among fourteen persons, who sustained injuries in two separate accidents in Jammu and Samba districts on Saturday.

In the first incident, an 18-year-old girl died while eight others were injured when a mini-bus overturned following its head-on collision with a car, coming from opposite direction, near Bata showroom in Kunjwani in Jammu district.

Officials identified the deceased student as Surbhi Kumari, daughter of Ashwani Kumar, resident of Jallo Chak, Gangyal.

Eight other persons, including six students, were immediately rushed to the hospital. They were identified as Saina, 16, daughter of Mohd Rafiq, resident of Kunjwani; Goutam Sharma, 25, son of late Manoj Kumar, resident of Chatha; Akesh Mohan, 39, son of late Tilak Raj Mohan, resident of Afgana Mohalla, Panjtrithi; Muskan Sharma, 16, daughter of Rohi Dass, resident of Ratnu Chak, Jammu; Sarita, 16, daughter of Upinder Ram, resident of Dhyansar, Bari Brahmana; Nisha, 16, daughter of Durga Swansi, resident of Jharkhand, at present Dhyansar, Bari Brahmana; Sumit Kumar, 16, son of Mulkh Raj, resident of Doda, at present Bari Brahmana and Shivani, 14, daughter of Raj Kumar, resident of Kunjwani.

In the second incident, six children suffered injuries when their school bus skidded off the road this afternoon at Sumbh Goran road in Samba district.

Officials said that all the injured children were immediately rushed to hospital.

The doctors stated that all the children were stable. “They had received superficial injuries and they were immediately provided with required medical care. The children are all right,” they said.
