1 dies, another injured in bear attack at Ramban

Ramban, Aug 05: One person died while another sustained injuries when they were attacked by a bear at the higher reaches of Jeelantu Top area of Pogal Paristan in Ramban district.

Official sources said a wild black bear attacked the two persons. Theyhad gone to graze their cattle in high altitude in Jeelantu Top . They said one person died on the spot whereas a minor boy sustained grievous injuries in the bear attack.

They said it took a whole night for inhabitants of Jeelantu Top area to bring the dead and injured to PHC Ukhral.

Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Nazir Malik, 48 son of Mohammad Haneif Malik resident of Halla,Dhandrath ,Ramban.

They identified the injured as Reyaz Ahmed Gorsi 15, son of Gulabo resident of Ganoteh ,Ramban. Police said after providing medical aid at PHC Ukhral injured Reyaz Ahmed was referred to District Hospital Ramban from PHC Ukhral on Monday afternoon.

In Charge Police Post Ukhral Sub Inspector Ishan Sharma confirmed the incident and said one person was brought dead by the locals.

However, to ascertain the actual cause of death, an inquest proceeding under Section 194, BNSS was initiated by Police Post Ukhral.
