1 dead, another injured in Doda accident
Ramban, Apr, 2: One person died and another was injured in a road accident at Assar-Bulandpur link road in Doda district today.
Reports said the mishap occurred when after a Bolero Jeep engaged for the Lok Sabha elections campaign plunged into a gorge .
The vehicle bearing registration numberJK02BE-0041 was on its way to Bulandpur from Assar and plunged into a 200 feet deep gorge near Ranka resulting in two persons sustaining injuries. Both the injured were rushed to the Primary Health Center (PHC) Assar where one person was declared dead by the doctor.
Police identified the deceased as Kamal Jeet Singh, 28, son of Jia Singh resident of Ranka, Assar, Doda.
The injured person identified as Ranjeet Singh 35, son of Janak Raj resident of Bulandpur was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital Doda for specialised treatment from PHC Assar.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was missing after the accident and a search operation was launched at the accident spot to trace him. However, locals said the driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot after committing the accident.
SHO Police Station Assar, Inspector Giri confirmed that one person was killed and one was injured while the driver of the vehicle was missing after the accident.
He further said a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Assar for further investigations.
