1 dead, 5 injured in Karnah road accident

Kupwara, Jul 6: At least one person was killed, while five others were injured on Sunday after their vehicle, they were traveling, rolled down into a deep gorge near Sadhna Top area of border town Karnah.

A health official confirmed to Greater Kashmir about the death of a person while injuries to five other onboard persons. "The vehicle they were travelling in, was enroute to Karnah and on reaching near Sadhna Top, the vehicle rolled down into a deep gorge resulting in the death of an individual and injuries to five," he said.

Locals and the Army immediately swung into action and started a rescue operation. The injured were evacuated to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Kralpora and provided primary treatment there. "Five injured were received at SDH Kralpora. Among them, three were referred to GMC Handwara for specialized treatment, while the remaining two are currently admitted at SDH Kralpora and are in stable condition," Block Medical Officer Kralpora Dr Manzoor Ahmad told Greater Kashmir.

The deceased person has been identified as Master Mashkoor Ahmad Mir (55), son of Mohammad Yousuf Mir resident of Khawarpara, Karnah. The five injured in the incident are Arooj Baseer, daughter of Baseer Ahmad Mir, Baseer Ahmad Mir (42), Anjum (30), wife of Baseer Ahmad Mir, Kounsar Parveen (58), wife of Mohammad Mashkoor, and Auzir Baseer (10), son of Baseer Ahmad Mir, all residents of Khawarpara, Karnah.
