1 dead, 3 injured during in Kupwara mishap

Kupwara, Jul 26: A well cleaning operation at Rangwar, Lalpora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district turned tragic on Friday evening after four persons lost consciousness inside the well. Following the incident they were immediately evacuated to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Kupwara where doctors declared one among them as dead while three others were referred to GMC Handwara for specialized treatment.

An official said that perhaps inhalation of toxic gases can be the reason of incident.

Locals said the victims had stepped down to clean the well when they suddenly collapsed. Panic gripped the area as rescue efforts were swiftly launched to take them out of the well.

The deceased has been identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir (45) while other individuals who lost their consciousness in the incident are Ghulam Nabi Sheikh (40), Ghulam Mohammad Mir (65), and Mohammad Rafiq Lachi (45).
