1 arrested with charas in Ramban

Ramban, Oct 10: Ramban Police foiled a narcotic smuggling attempt and arrested a man along with charas today.

Police said  during routine vehicle checks on National Highwayin   Ramban a load  carrier auto bearing registration number JK17A-4263,  which was on its way to Jammu from Srinagar was stopped. During checking of the vehicle, the police discovered 32 rods (Chillies) of a substance resembling Charas, weighing approximately 500-600 grams was recovered.

The arrested driver was identified as Farooq Ahmed, son of Gulam Mohammadd Sheikh, resident of Bagger, Tehsil Assar,Doda.

In this connection a case FIR No. 251 of 2024, under section 8/20 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at Police Station Ramban.

They said investigations are underway to unravel any connections or networks associated with this illegal trade.
