1 arrested for murder in Udhampur

Ramban, Nov 18: Udhampur Police arrested a man for killing his mother- in- law and critically injuring his wife and sister- in- law on Monday.

Police sources said that the man under the influence of the alcohol attacked his wife, sister- in- law, and mother- in- law late Sunday night at village Kiya, Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district.

Police identified the accused as Suresh Kumarof village Kiya, Ramnagar district Udhampur. He attacked with a sharp edged weapon (axe) his family members after some alteration critically injuring his wife Laita Devi, sister in law Anju Devi, and mother –in- law, Shanti Devi and fled away from the spot.

On getting information Police locals reached at home and shifted the trio to CHC Ramnagar for treatment where Shanti Devi, wife of Shonku Ram was declared brought dead by the doctors.

Police said after providing medical aid and seeing their condition other two women were referred to District Hospital Udhampur for treatment.

Police said following the incident on the direction of senior Police officers, SHO Police Station Ramnagar conducted raids at several suspected locations and finally arrested the accused Suresh Kumar and put him behind the bars.

Police said after conducting postmortem and other legal formalities body of the deceased women Shanti Devi was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.

Police have registered a case FIR No, 111 of 2024, under sections 103/109/331, (6),BNS,at Police Station Ramnagar of Udhampur.
