J&K Police seems unprepared to handle disaster situations, like the accident on highway in which Amarnath pilgrims lost lives.

After the accident, police was caught on wrong foot for issuing names without verifying the details of deceased and injured persons.

Late in the evening, after 6-7 hours of the accident, police issued a list of 16 killed and 28 injured persons. However, in the list one Rachit Sharma resident of New Delhi was figured in killed list, while actually he was admitted in GMC Jammu. After taking to Rachit the family heaved a sigh of relief but blamed J&K Police for creating confusion.
