Senior National Conference leader and legislator from Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmad on Tuesday said that holding talks won’t yield any results if the leadership of India and Pakistan is not sincere to resolve the Kashmir issue. He also said that better relations between the two countries are vital for peace and development in the region.

Speaking at a function organised to honour renowned writer from Pakistan-administered Kashmir Rana Fazal Hassan here, the NC leader said that people from both the regions should be allowed to visit each other without any inconvenience or hassles. “This will help build trust between the two countries and put across the yearning desire of the people for lasting peace in the region,” he said.

He said the government of India should not forget the sacrifices made by people in Jammu and Kashmir and find a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue so that the people don’t suffer anymore due to the hostilities between the two countries.

He said that generations have suffered since 1947 and therefore it is high time to resolve the Kashmir issue so that the future generations don’t become victims of Indo-Pak hostilities.
