Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah today termed the upcoming parliamentary by-elections in Kashmir as “drama”, saying “National Conference and PDP are two sides of the same coin who can stoop to any low for achieving power.”

“Till yesterday, Tariq Karra used to lash out at National Conference and today campaigns for the same party. This is the height of opportunism and to expect any good from these people is a folly,” Shabir Shah, in a statement today, said.

Challenging the government to allow the resistance leadership to meet people, Shah said, “We’ll show them that their position is not more than a Mohalla committee leader.”

“Though we know these elections are sham but we still challenge the authorities to let us meet the people and everything will be clear,” he said. Shah hailed the pro-freedom spirit of people particularly those of south Kashmir and Srinagar saying, “they have carried the coffins of their sons on their shoulders. Now, by observing curfew on election days, they have to show the pro-India politicians their worth.”
