JKMM stages protest against arrest spree

Police on Monday detained several members of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM) when they staged protest at Abiguzar here. 

The protest was led JKMM chairman Fareeda Behanji. They were demanding release of Kashmiri prisoners and whereabouts of missing persons. Holding banners and placards, the protesters appeared at Abi Guzar here and chanted pro-freedom slogans. 

They tried to march towards Lal Chowk, but police intercepted them detaining several of them. She appealed people to boycott the upcoming elections. 

“Our children were maimed, killed and blinded by New Delhi. We should keep these sacrifices in mind and stay away from poll process,” she said.  Besides, Fareedha Behanji, those who were arrested included JKMM Chairman Molvi Bashir Ahmed, Firdousa Akhtar, Mehmooda Baji, Afroza Akhtar and Zahida Akhtar.
